Do you have any idea why Windows 11 voice access isn't adding any punctuation when using Stimuwrite? Doesn't seem to matter whether I have it set to automatic or when I say "period." The ability to dictate text in the software and have it work correctly would be awesome for writers and disabled peeps.

Edit: Upon further testing, commas, question marks, em dashes, semi colons and colons all work correctly. It seems to just be periods that won't insert unless typed.

Hi caelanbug! Thanks for making me aware of this issue, I will look into it

Thanks so much! I appreciate all your hard work on this software and recommended it to my writer friends with ADHD all the time 😊

Thank you for making this! I got this on a recommendation from a friend in college and it has genuinely helped me write with less of a barrier with my executive dysfunction. If there's even a small thing, it would be that I like working with the left part of my screen filled with sources or rubric or something and if I put stimuwrite on the right side, it leaves about 50% of dead space which is only graphics. Can the border be expanded with black where the box for Soundscape and the export section is vertically to fill the whole area?

Unfortunately, there's no way to scale the UI vertically at this time, but it's something I could consider for the future if enough people are interested.

Hi! I love your app and was wondering--I saw that you're working on a focus mode where we can disable the delete and backspace keys, but would you be willing to add blur to the inactive text as well? If not, I understand, but I have ADHD and perfectionism so I just want to free-write without being able to criticize myself lol

Have you tried using the Flow Circular font? It's not exactly what you are looking for, but if you can touch type, it will make your words unreadable while you write.

I like the blur idea, I will take it into consideration! I need to investigate how difficult it would be to implement.

I have not--thank you for the tip!

First off, this program is absolutely amazing and I absolutely love it! I've only had it for a day, but I already feel like it is helping me focus better on what I'm writing!

One issue I'm noting is that the Clear Crystal theme uses white text, but it makes it difficult to read when the background also has light colors. I know you've mentioned that you don't intend to add any font formatting, but I wanted to know if that included font colors? Even if it is just switching between black and white, I think it would make it a lot easier to read the text in those situations. (I have a couple of examples below). As an alternative, you could also have a "Dark" Clear Crystal theme that uses black text.

I also wanted to make a suggestion for a theme. I really enjoy the raindrop noise, so I thought a background of raindrops hitting a window with a foresty background would be really neat.

Thank you again for making this!

Hi! Thanks so much, I'm glad the program is helping so much. The Outline theme that comes with the theme pack is the dark version of Clear Crystal. I have been considering adding a text color option though, so I will take that into account. I love your theme idea! I am working on some more themes now, and I'll definitely consider it.

I didn't even see the outline theme, I was so focused on Clear Crystal, haha. That's totally on me. But I do think it would be handy for some of the others that don't have that option so people can adjust it for personal eye comfort.

Also I have to say I'm so impressed at how quickly you respond to comments, and how you take suggestions into consideration. It's something you don't see very often, and it's incredibly refreshing!

Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much! I am a solo developer so sometimes the chaos of life takes me away from this project, but when I'm able to I do my best to push it forward and support users :)

Hello.
Was wondering why the app doesn't open if you are not connected to the internet?

Had taken my laptop with me on a trip, thinking I could do some writing exercises. But when I opened the program (without internet) it failed to load, repeatedly. Soon as it (my laptop) connected at home, the program started without a problem.

So, why does it require an internet connection to use?

Hi Sileka, sorry for the issue! This is due to a bug in an older version of StimuWrite. On open, the app checks the itchio server once to see if there is a new version and is supposed to notify the user if there is an update. There was bug in some older versions of the app that crashes it once I changed my username on itchio. StimuWrite does not send or receive any data other than this one time check.

If you update the app to the latest version you will be able to use it offline. I recommend downloading and running StimuWrite through the itchio app, as it will keep it automatically up to date with the latest fixes and features.  Happy writing!

Ah, okay.

Wasn't aware the one I had was out of date. Only picked it up a month ago. Will make sure I keep a closer eye on updates in the future. Thank you!

Hmm that's strange, you should have the most up to date one. Could you please check the "About" button to see which version you have. I'm wondering now if the bug has returned somehow. I will do some testing and add it to the upcoming version which is coming out soon. Are you on Windows?

Can I upload stories I made with this here?

I love that StimuWrite helped you write stories, but I'm sorry, I don't think this comment section is the best place to link them. People aren't coming to this page to read stories. Maybe try a stories subreddit or putting them on tumblr? I wish you the best in your writing journey, and hope you find a good place for them <3

Hi there! I still love and recommend your software to my fellow ADHDers all the time. A while back I asked about adding the ability to disable the backspace and delete keys until I hit my word count and you expressed some interest in the idea at some point. I don't want to add any pressure by mentioning it again, but I haven't seen many other softwares that have this function and would totally be willing to pay for it as an optional plugin.

I think it would help a lot of ADHD writers avoid getting distracted with editing and making typos. It would be especially helpful for "free-writing" exercises where you just type whatever comes to mind without editing.

Thanks for letting me know, I think it's a great idea and it's still planned as a feature. <3 Unfortunately chaos and busy-ness in my freelance work and personal life has left very little time for stimuwrite development the past few months, but I am hoping to get back to it soon as it looks like things are slowing down on both of those fronts.  stay tuned!

Take your time! I didn't realize it's a planned as a feature and that Stimuwrite is still in development. Hecc yeah! That's super cool and the main thing I was curious about. Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate all the hard work you've put into the software and just wanted to make it known I'd gladly throw money at ya for said feature, however long it takes to develop. Good luck with everything <3

My friend called this Google docs with a praise kink... Yes

Hey! I have a...like, it's not a need. It's more like a request that if you can do, fantastic! But if you can't, that's fantastic, too! Because I know I may be the only one who cares.

On some of the themes (at least Pleather Daddy) the cursor can be tough to see. Is there a way to either thicken it or adjust the color depending on the theme?

Like, on some of the themes, the cursors really pop. But on at least Pleather Daddy, it's harder to see:

Like I said, though. TOTALLY cool if it's too much of a pain in the ass, or even if you just don't want to bother. I love this program, and I'm sure there are other priorities. :)

Thanks!!

I will update this when I get a chance! Thanks so much :)

Thanks so much! Clearly not any sort of emergency. :)

Crashed as soon as I hit my writing goal and I lost everything I'd written. It's really wonderful otherwise but that just kind of soured it for me.

edit: I just realized it saved my progress! In settings and "recover previous session." I'm very thankful.

I’m really glad you were able to recover your words, but I hate that you had to deal with a crash.

Please email me, I’m trying to figure out the source of some of these crashing issues that is effecting some users and I could use your help: stimuwrite@eveharms.com

hello! i love stimuwrite, use it all the time, and recommend it heavily to my fellow adhd writers! it's immensely helpful. thank you so much for the hard work you do as a developer. :)

Thank you so much!! It means a lot to me to hear it's helping you.
